Together with Fraunhofer IAO, we are developing the automation tool NAVA as part of the DATIpilot funding program. The project aims to make administrative tasks more efficient and intuitive through the use of a Large Language Model (LLM). NAVA plays a crucial role in patient triage and remote patient monitoring, relieving medical staff and saving valuable time.

Optimization of Routine Processes and Patient Triage with AI

NAVA stands for "Low-Threshold Automation Tool for Administrative Tasks" and is designed to optimize routine processes in businesses, particularly in healthcare. NAVA enables users to formulate administrative tasks and patient triage instructions in natural everyday language, which are then automatically converted into digital processes. This saves time and reduces errors.

AI can offer significant advantages, especially in patient triage. NAVA analyzes health data in real time and supports medical professionals in assessing the urgency of patient inquiries. As a result, acute cases are prioritized, and unnecessary burdens on doctors and nursing staff are reduced. Particularly in remote patient monitoring, where continuous surveillance is required, NAVA helps detect anomalies early and initiate targeted interventions.

Remote Patient Monitoring with AI-Supported Patient Triage

Our Actimi platform will seamlessly integrate NAVA to enable AI-powered patient triage. The system analyzes real-time vital data collected from medical measuring devices and determines which patients require medical intervention.

Advantages of Integration:

  • Time Savings: Automatic prioritization reduces administrative workload.

  • Early Detection: Critical values are identified immediately.

  • Relief for Medical Staff: Focus on urgent cases while routine monitoring is automated.

Especially in clinics and nursing facilities where personnel resources are scarce, NAVA helps make workflows more efficient and sustainably improve patient care.

MDR Certification for Medical Use

To ensure the highest quality and safety standards, NAVA will be MDR-certified (Medical Device Regulation). This is a crucial step to enable integration into clinical processes and ensure compliance with all medical software requirements.

Joint Development with Fraunhofer IAO

The project is being implemented in close collaboration with the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering (IAO). While Fraunhofer IAO leads the technical development of the NAVA tool, our focus is on practical applications in remote patient monitoring and patient triage.

Funding and Project Timeline

NAVA is funded as part of the DATIpilot program's innovation sprint. The project runs from July 2024 to January 2026. During this time, various milestones will be achieved, including identifying relevant medical administrative tasks, developing AI-supported patient triage, and conducting extensive testing with medical institutions.

"With NAVA, we are bridging the gap between advanced AI technology and practical application in medical processes." "Our goal is to make automation accessible to healthcare while prioritizing data protection and user-friendliness," explains Dr. Maximilian Weiß, CEO of Actimi GmbH.

Outlook

Upon completion of the project, NAVA will become an integral part of our Actimi platform and serve as a standardized automation tool in various projects. Clinics, medical practices, and nursing homes will benefit from increased efficiency while repetitive tasks are automated by NAVA.

Thanks to the combination of remote patient monitoring, AI-powered patient triage, and MDR certification, NAVA will make a significant contribution to the digitalization and efficiency improvement in healthcare.
